A Real Lesson In Serving...

Why did Jesus wash the disciple's feet?

At the Last Supper, Jesus demonstrated his greatest act of servant leadership. He and his 12 disciples had just finished eating when Jesus, with only a towel wrapped around his waist, knelt down at the feet of each of them and washed their feet, drying them with the towel. This overwhelming gesture made a lasting impression on the disciples, not only because it expressed pure love, but by washing their feet, Jesus laid the foundation for true servant leadership; one that has become the model for Christians today.

In those days, all roads to Jerusalem and those within the city were dry and dusty. Since most travel consisted of walking, feet were often the dirtiest part of the body. Because it was considered a lowly task, the ritual of foot washing was usually performed by a household servant. On occasion, the host would wash a guest's feet, but only if the guest was a close friend and of equal social status. But more commonly, water would be offered for guests to wash their own feet upon entering a home.

I wonder what Jesus what was going through Jesus' mind when he got to Judas? Knowing that this man would betray him for 30 pieces of silver.

Just A Sec.....

Most of of us, well at least me, when I got to Judas I would have broken his foot off and fed it to the dogs, or placed it only where only surgery could retrieve it... and this is why I am not Jesus.

Think about it... if you know that someday someone would betray you... and by betray I mean; lead you to be arrested, beaten, flesh ripped from bone, tormented, spat upon, bullied, made to carry heavy wooden cross that you would eventually be nailed to... NAILED TO... kinda betrayal

Could you wash their feet?

I am not sure I am that strong.

I think there is a tremendous lesson on Love here... even though Jesus knew what his fate was to be, and all the players that where involved. He chose to show Love by doing one of the lowliest tasks that a person could do.

I am not necessarily saying you should wash the feet of your enemies but, if you look at the bigger picture, the symbolism behind Jesus washing his disciples feet, even Judas'...

Jesus showed us that we should love everyone.

Everyone.

Have you washed any feet recently?

Love You

Where Have I Been...? Busy.

Wow... It has been so long since I posted. Not that I haven't had any thoughts or nothing to say... I've been busy.

I stopped to think how busy I have been since the last time I've posted and I realize that my schedule stinks. Not that it stinks, and not that I really schedule... But I realize that I am constantly on the go... From the time I get at 5 am ... and I get up again at 5:30, :) ... I am moving, I am working, or I am ... and this is usually goes until about 10pm or later.

I realize that I have very little margin for things that REALLY matter... Like spending time with God, spending quality time with my family, walking, and cleaning the house.

Yes cleaning the house.

Cleaning the house and helping my wife is her love language, and I love my wife.

So How do I create margin... How do I step away from important things to create margin for other important things?

How do I fine margin in a society where the pedal is constantly pinned to the floor, or throttle wide open for the bikers?

I would love to hear what you guys are doing to beat the busy and add margin.

Am I alone in this?

LOL ...I just googled Marginseekers.com.... it does not exist... this ain't gonna be easy...

What's Love Got To Do With It?

Some folks think love is an overused word and it has has lost its meaning behind it...

It's Just A Word or I love you is just a phrase.

The word Love is mentioned over 500 times in the bible... (must be an important word)

I personally feel that you can't say love enough. You can't tell enough people that you love them, and you should tell everyone you love them, everyday. I personally feel we don't say I Love You enough. I know I don't say it enough to the people I love the most...

You know who you are. I Love You

But I think that what may cheapen love for some is that they say love or I love you and they leave it right there.

Love is and has to remain a verb! We have to put action behind the word love.

Over 2000 years later 1 single act of placing action behind is the foundation and catalyst of Christianity. God told us throughout the bible that he loves us... and in the the most awesome, frightening, saddest way he showed us.

John 3:16

I  love my children with all my heart... I can't imagine the anguish...  let's just leave it at that...

I guess the idea is... tell people you love them... often... Show them that you love them even more frequently than that.

Just a random thought...

What do you think about Love?

Random Thoughts... On An Organized Spot: What do Diet Coke and Mentos have to do with God?

What do Diet Coke and Mentos have to do with God?

So I was driving to work this morning, and this random thought popped up in my head. I was thinking to myself, I said self... Gods love is kinda like mentos and diet coke. We(diet coke) are there, we are effervescent in our own way. if some one gets close to us we my tickle their nose with a bubble or two, but for the most part we stay pretty self contained.

Then comes God and his amazing love (mentos) and he just rocks our world. We bubble over with joy and excitement, and he keeps pouring into us until we just explode! We didn't care who got hit by His love, we are just putting it out there and praying that what was just witnessed will become known.

Matthew 28:19

John 4:7

Yeah it may have a bit of a stretch but think about when you first became a Christian and you always wanted to tell somebody about your Jesus and your church. Are you still doing it, or are you waiting for God to drop a few mentos?
